بعد از اظهارات نخست وزیر هنددر سفرِ اخیرش به ترکمنستان، گمانه زنی ها در مورد کم شدن علاقهاین کشور به پروژه تاپی بیشتر شده است. در ملاقاتِ نخست وزیر هند با رئیس جمهورِترکمنستان، مودی به بررسی گزینه های مختلف برای انتقال گاز از ترکمنستان به هند اشاره نمود که یکی از این گزینه ها، مسیر زمین-دریا از طریق ایران می باشد. به عبارت دیگر نخست وزیر هند اشاره ای به احتمال راه اندازی "مطالعۀ عملی بودن" طرح خطِ لولۀ گاز از ترکمنستان به هند از طریق خاک ایران داشت.

Indian consortium scraps gigantic Afghan project


KABUL (Pajhwok): After developing cold feet over the proposed $10.8 billion steel Hajigak iron ore mine project in Afghanistan, conceived in November 2011, the SAIL-led consortium of leading Indian steelmakers has now decided to scrap the project altogether, Indian media reports.

The Financial Express reports that an inter-ministerial group is learnt to have come to the conclusion at its latest meeting that it would be prudent not to pursue the project.

Natural gas power station being built in Mazar-i-Sharif


KABUL (Pajhwok): A natural gas power station is being constructed at a cost of $75 million in northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif, officials said on Wednesday.

The station would jointly be constructed by privately-owned Ghazanfar Group and World Bank (WB).

An agreement about the building of the project was signed by officials of ministries of mines, energy and water and finance and representatives of Ghazanfar Group and WB in Kabul.

Mineral resources of Paktika province:

Paktika is located to the southeast of the country, bordering Paktia and Ghazni in the north. In its northeast is lying Khost and southwest north and South Waziristan Agencies. Baluchistan province of Pakistan and Zabul are located to its west.

1- Katawaz fuel and gas basin:

Katawaz fuel and gas basin is located to the north of Sharan, the capital of Paktika province. The location is close to Yahyakhel, Zarghoon Shahar, Janikhel and Khoshamand districts. Measuring 40,000 square kilometres area, thicknesses of its sedimentary jewels reach 6,000 metres.

Mineral resources of Ghor province

Situated in western part of the country, Ghor province is surrounded by Herat, Daikundi, Faryab, Farah and Jawzjan provinces.

No official survey has been conducted so far to estimate the volume of natural resources in the mountainous province, but local officials and residents believe huge deposits of metallic and non-metallic minerals are available in Ghor.

Azure worth 1b afs seized in Badakhshan


 FAIZABAD (Pajhwok): Security officials claim they have seized 65 trucks ferrying illegally extracted azure in northeastern Badakhshan province, blaming the smuggling on influential individuals.

Local officials say azure is extracted from a mine located in Keran wa Menjan district and smuggled by trucks to Faizabad, the provincial capital.

Deputy Governor Gul Mohammad Baidar told Pajhwok Afghan News the National Security Council (NSC) last month ordered canceling the contract awarded to Lajawardin Company and stopping the extraction of azure.

Seized azure truckloads ordered moved to Kabul


KABUL (Pajhwok): The National Security Council (NSC) has directed local officials in northeastern Badakhshan province to move to Kabul for taxation the 64 trucks they had seized ferrying illegally extracted azure.

Badakhshan officials on Sunday said they had seized trucks carrying azure worth 1 billion afs, blaming the smuggling attempt on some influential persons.

The Presidential Palace said the decision came at the NSC meeting chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Wednesday evening.

Kandahar puts 4 mineral deposits on offer


KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): Despite insecurity, four mines of lead, zinc and talc have been put on offer to launch their survey and extraction in southern Kandahar province, an official says.

During an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, Mines Director Eng. Khan Aqa Tarakhel said previous and latest surveys showed 30 different kinds of minerals existed in the province’s more than 17 areas. 

These minerals include fluorite, chromite, iron, gold, copper, marbles, talc, zinc, sulfur, kunzite, coal, stucco, gemstones and others.
