Ghori cement factory inaugurated

PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): A second Ghori cement factory, with the capacity to produce one thousand tonnes of cement a day, has been inaugurated in northern Baghlan province, officials said.

The factory opened on Thursday, with the Baghlan governor and officials of the Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) participating in the inaugural ceremony.

Azrakhsh Hafizi, chairman of ACCI’s International Relations Committee, said the plant would produce 1,200 tonnes of cements a day. It would create job opportunities for a thousand people, he told the participants.

The industrial unit cost $30m cost, said the head of the investment company (AIC), Mirwais Siddiqui, who is also responsible for production affairs.  Machinery was imported from India, Czech Republic and Slovakia, he said.

According to the people in charge, the company took three years to complete.
